Adam Lambert, Musician

Adam Lambert performing on American Idol
The speculation has been circling for a while now. Is Adam gay? Straight? Bi-sexual? I think the real question is… “Who cares?” Obviously some people do, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this article. But I think most people don’t really.

Does his sexuality affect his music? Does he sing better or worse for it? No. Who he spends time with IN PRIVATE doesn’t matter, and is none of our business. It is also fair to note that it is none of our business if Kate Hudson is dating A-Rod, either. But as a society, we tend to be nosy about stuff that doesn’t concern us.

Undeniably a favourite on American Idol, Adam finished second to Kris Allen. No small feat given how tough the competition is on American Idol. Lambert has been involved in musical theatre (he played Joshua opposite Val Kilmer in The Ten Commandments, was an understudy in the LA production of Wicked). He is a chameleon when it comes to musical style. He successfully switches among pop, rock, R&B, soul, electronic, and adult contemporary genres.

Shouldn’t that be the focus now? Why don’t we praise him for doing well, being talented, and being an up-and-coming musician. That is what he wants to do, after all.
